UPDATES: In 2022, Alan Lee Phillips (who got his truck stuck in a snowbank the same night the women went missing, and was rescued by authorities) was found guilty for the 1982 killings of Annette Schnee and Barbara “Bobbi Jo” Oberholtzer in Breckenridge, Colorado. Prosecutors built their case around DNA evidence that, via genetic genealogy, directly connected Phillips to the crimes. He died by suicide in prison in 2023. A lawsuit was subsequently filed by Phillips' daughter, on the basis that disgraced CBI forensic scientist Missy Woods' testimony played a key role in getting Phillips convicted. The status of that lawsuit is unclear, but seems to be pending, perhaps because Woods' misconduct case is still gummed up in the courts.
